Frequently asked questions.

“God is always in the moment, be that moment hard or easy, joyful and painful. Our glory is hidden in our pain, if we allow God to bring the gift of himself in our experience of it.”

~Henri Nouwen

What does a typical session look like?

In a world full of near constant noise and a multitude of distractions, we begin our session by slowing down and offering our openness to God’s leading. I light a candle, say a prayer, read a verse from the Bible or offer a spiritual exercise. The goal is to become aware of the sacred space that is always around us, and to turn our hearts towards God’s love and direction. After we quiet and center ourselves, the directee will begin by sharing whatever is most important for that particular day. We may stop to dig deeper, ask more questions, sit in silence, or ask God to show us more about a particular subject. This is spiritual companioning, soul friendship, and reflecting your belovedness back to you. This is deepening your trust, opening yourself to a good God, and learning where you can grow in trust, hope, healing, dealing with doubts, fears, struggles and discernment.

How much does this cost?

Although I do not accept insurance, my rates are very reasonable and are typically half the cost of a visit to see a therapist. I work with clients on a sliding-scale fee to make it affordable for everyone to have a spiritual companion via direction, retreats, and soul care.

Can we meet in person? Online?

We can meet in person and/or remote via Zoom or Google Meet. My office is located in Norwood, OH, close to Interstates 71 and 75 in the heart of Cincinnati. My office is warm and inviting and I pray that you will feel a welcome and peaceful atmosphere. If we meet online, we will also begin with a centering prayer, candle lighting, and Scripture or spiritual exercise similar to something you would find in this book.

How will I know if this is a good fit? Do you work with all religions?

We set up a free 15-30 minute consultation so that we can get to know one another and find out if you would like to move forward with booking a Spiritual Direction session. Beyond that, we set up appointments one month at a time. I work with people of all faiths and backgrounds, but I come to spiritual direction from a Christian faith. I trained with Sustainable Faith and I am a part of ESDA and their network of spiritual directors. Here is a statement of faith that all practitioners adhere to through the ESDA network: Doctrinal Statement.
